DNEG Sydney Welcomes Brett Groves For Creative Lunch & Learn
Indigenous artist and storyteller shares his inspiration behind the artwork featured in Sydney studio.
DNEG Sydney was thrilled to welcome Brett Groves to the studio last month for a Creative lunch and learn!
The Indigenous artist and storyteller, who has a major painting featured in the new reception area of our Sydney studio, led the team on a masterclass in painting and artistry.
Following their celebration of NAIDOC week last month, the team was excited to hear Brett’s personal insights on the importance of acknowledging and celebrating First Nations culture and their connection with the land we work on – of particularly significance, as our Sydney studio sits on Eora country, a land that is home to Gadigal and Darug clans!
The session focused on celebrating Indigenous culture and heritage through art, as Brett’s own heritage and upbringing on the neighbouring Wiradjuri country serves as a major inspiration for his art.
Brett, owner and founder of Bilingarra Indigenous Arts & Culture, said:
"My connection to culture began when I started painting. I’m loving learning more about the brilliance behind our thousands of years of culture, through my art as I go along this journey."
The team then put brush to canvas (physical this time!) by making their own inspired pieces, using the bold and bright colours reflective of Indigenous culture, to tell their own story through their art.
